DAILY GLOW: Grow a Garden with God
Spring has sprung! Jesus used the analogy of seeds to teach his disciples about everything from salvation to sanctification, to patience and even prayer. Grab a pack of seeds, a little planter and allow your children to get their hands dirty! As they are scooping potting soil, marvel that God breathed life into a muddy mess and created a human! As they pack the dirt, talk about the patience needed before the seed will sprout. When watering, explain that they are partners with God, because our job is to plant and water, but ultimately only God can make the seed grow. As you place the potted seeds in the sunlight to grow, share with them that how Jesus, the Son of God, is the light of the world and helps us grow strong and beautiful in our faith.
Make a point to check your planting together over the next few days and weeks. Remind your children that God wants us to be planting seeds of His love in peoples hearts every day! Pray for your plants and the people you are“gardening.”
Did your plant grow? Did it produce fruit? Vegetables? Herbs? Celebrate! Add those cucumbers into a salad, turn fresh basil into pesto or set your flowers as table decoration. Savor being partners with God and talk about more ways you can spread seeds of kindness in his world.
1 Cor 3:6-7 “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
